The Key to Speaking Success (and it’s probably not what you think!)

Having a story to tell does not automatically mean you are ready to stand in front of an audience and share it.

You must also consider how to share your message in a way that creates impact and a lasting effect for the specific individuals who are hearing it.

In other words, the preparations that you do weeks (or months!) before your presentation matter just as much as your message on the day of your presentation.

So before taking on any speaking engagement, do a little research.

Knowing more about your audience, the company and the industry can go a long way.

This can take the form of surveys, interviews, or phone calls. In-person visits (if in the same city), periodic updates and even video messages.

Just reach out and talk to them.

Ask questions, then listen attentively to the answers.

And take LOTS of notes.

Take the steps to get to know your audience, so that you can better understand how to tailor your message to their specific needs.

It’s a small step that will make a HUGE difference.

👉 I’d love to learn what steps YOU take to prepare for a presentation. Please share in the comments!
