VIDEO TRANSCRIPT:

One challenge that I’ve observed with many, many presentations that I’ve seen is that very often, the presenter will focus solely on what they feel is important. It’s because they are an expert and they have a lot of value to share that they will focus on the message that they feel is most important for the audience to hear.

What I help people do, is I help them shift their mindset a little, so that not only are they talking about what they want to talk about, but they are speaking about it in a way that the audience needs to hear. They’re shifting the message a little bit so that they’re talking about it in a way that becomes more valuable, more relevant for the audience, more meaningful for the audience.

So, essentially what I teach people to do is to be a little bit less presenter-centric, spend a little less time dumping information on the audience and hoping that they process it the way you want them to, and instead creating a message that is far more audience-centric that focuses on what the audience needs to hear so that they walk away inspired, that they walk away with an action plan and that they walk away feeling that the time spent with you, the presenter, has been a valuable use of their time.
