Podcast: “Words of Wisdom” from the entrepreneurial journey

I had a chat with Brian Lieberman of the Entrepreneurship Quotes podcast, created to share short conversations with successful entrepreneurs about the words of wisdom that were meaningful to them on their entrepreneuriSuzannah Baum Brian Lieberman entrepreneurship podcastal journey.

While I don’t want to share ALL the secret sauce from this podcast, I’ll share my quote (below) — but the context, meaning and the “WHY” behind the quote was all part of our discussion, which you should totally listen to (less than 12 minutes long).

Here was my quote:

“If you want a raise or a promotion, don’t tell me what you accomplished last year or all the professional goals that you achieved. That’s all in the past. Instead, tell me about the future. Tell me what you’re going to work on and what you plan to achieve in the current year. That’s what’s meaningful to me. And that’s what I’ll base the raise or promotion on.”

These ‘words of wisdom’ were shared with me over 15 years ago, stuck in my head, and played a big part in how I worked — and what kind of conversation I had over the years. Do you have any words of wisdom or advice that have affected YOU in the same way?
